Overview

The Faculty-Student Association (FSA) awards grants—chosen by our Board of Directors—to faculty, staff, and students who propose public programs that enrich both the educational and extracurricular experience at Buffalo State campus. Submissions are accepted in the fall and fund activities happening the following calendar year, including spring, summer, and fall terms.

  • Grant Guidelines

Applicants must ensure their proposal meets the following criteria (with exceptions considered only in rare cases):

    • On-campus or hybrid format: Fully remote programs are not eligible.

    • Inclusive & free: Open to all Buffalo State community members at no cost. If a program charges admission or fees, those funds will reduce the FSA grant amount accordingly.

    • Non-continuous format: Grants support one-time or occasional events—not recurring annual or regular activities beyond reasonable frequency.

    • Civic engagement encouraged: Programs with community outreach or engagement components are particularly welcome.

    • Food/beverage cap: No more than one-third of the grant may be used for food or drinks, based on actual spending—not the total awarded. Meals outside of the event are not allowed unless included as part of a speaker’s honorarium.

    • Promotion required: Provide a program flyer or other promotional materials, along with estimated attendance figures, before we process the final payment.

    • Restricted uses: Funds cannot be used for bulk gift cards, incentives, giveaways, or materials not directly tied to facilitating the program.

    • Reimbursement-based funding: FSA does not provide advanced funds. All payments are made as reimbursements or direct vendor invoice payments—original invoices and receipts must be provided.
